picking up right where ep 1 left off, ep 2 kicks things off with a bang. first up is catz n dogz and yotam avnis for blakkat a high pace burner ideally suited for dance floors from panorama bar to under the leds of watergate and every club in-between. the duo return with the bright version of afterglow for the second cut on ep 2 and aptly titled, it pushes an intense, glitter filled ride to its limits. embarking onto the b-side, o.a. peas from heavy hitter eats everything & lord leopard take a trip down memory lane with a heavily sample based feel good tune that will absolutely demolish dance floors worldwide. rounding out the ep is a final collaboration between catz n dogz and reno wurzbacher with ma people and its by far the smoothest and most laid back tune of the bundle, but never does it let you rest as a mesmerizing groove and lush atmospherics tell a deep, complex tale of late nights and early mornings.

steve o sullivan s mosaic split series is back with a fresh instalment for you in 2017 as the boss continues to discover and compile music from artists new and old for the well-received series that marked his return a few years ago. focusing on three slabs of high grade deepness for release number six, the a side comes from a firm mosaic favourite dean decosta, a long-time friend and contributor to the imprint. hailing from california, his music has always held a timeless quality and subtlety that is in key with the label and steve s ethos. stripping everything back to basics, recon feels like a tribute to the last days of summer and the warm coastal breeze that inhabits the shore in decosta s native california. filling the space with warm pads and twinkling synths, the bass end neatly pulses and tweaks throughout as it elegantly moves to a spatial groove that seems to freeze the very moment in time you inhabit. complimented perfectly by within without, leeds lad bobby o donnell serves up an instant ace for the b side as he fuses a tough ended kick with dub tinged rhodes chords, pattering hats and swirling melody: evoking the kind of uplifting vibe that won t go amiss with djs and dancers alike. expect some heavy rotation and smiling faces on this. last, but not least, rising swedish producer sean dixon lays down a fusion of omar s styled synth jams to dub driven house. by taking elements of the classic and injecting a fresh angle, dixon creates a unique space in the sound that builds and builds, deserving both your time and attention. with repeated play, you can t but help admire his craft. if you haven t already checked out his catalogue don t get caught sleeping.

after studying dance, kirikoo des aka nsdos, felt the need to create his own sound in order to explore movement. this is how he started imagining a whole new sonic order, an alternative approach to music � through abstraction. nsdos can�t restrain himself to existing technological tools and softwares, he prefers creating his own mediums: futurist instruments made of old audio converters (carte son), gameboy emulators, pieces of metal dismantled and weld together giving form to surreal machines. surrounded by his hybrid tools, nsdos unravels the rectilinear anatomy of techno music. textures are exploded, sounds mutilated, and brought back to their essence. this sonic odyssey, nsdos initiated in his native town paris before exploring it deeper in berlin � a city that he sees as a giant laboratory in which he experimented the field of possibilities. a huge admirer of the dada and lettrism movements, nsdos can be considered as the offspring of a diy culture. he ranks among his icons artists such as christian marley, stelarc or donna haraway who gave him a desire to push the limits of the body, objects and sound. his alternative vision and the way he reinterprets technological tools have made him one of the most important techno hackers of his generation. nsdos doesn�t create, he regenerates and transmutes music. his creative path is empirical, sometimes organic as he puts sensors on insects, his public in trance, trees � everything that comes on his way � and transcribes their movement into sounds. after three maxis, lazer connect in 2013, female guest list in 2015 both signed on parisian music label clekcleckboom recordings and money exchange published in 2016 on his label standalone complex, his new album, intuition, intervenes as the completion of his organic vison of music. inspired by meteorological stations and according to a principle of « bio feedback », nsdos surveyed the movements of nature, turned into data before translating them into sounds, textures and rhythms. the album comes with a series of 5 videos detailing the creative process of the artist � from recording in the middle of nature to the studio. in intuition, nsdos splinters the boundaries between genres and places techno as a matrix. his album reveals his sense of discipline, one that he draws from his passion from japanese dance buto, as well as his interest for biology, his experimental aura through industrial, sometimes nearly metal sounds. all these elements form the essence of whole new movement, unclassifiable, of which he constantly pushes the frontiers.

these tracks are inspired by a series of events that happened in a difficult place by the end of the 90 s. everything was possible with the help and efforts (without profits) of many people who believed in this new sound that would change everything and hypnotized us till the rest of our life s. this record goes to all the people involved in that movement, who still stand strong and believe in the true original values of this musical genre called techno.

digital is back on metalheadz for the first time in nearly 2 years and we couldn�t be happier to have such a legend in the scene releasing with us. the * in the lurch ep* consists of everything that we love about digital with the much sought after * sun bites* featuring villem on the a side. for the other 3 tracks on the release we head down the steppier route, bringing tonnes of flavour on the way as digital flexes his production muscles.

finnish techno icon mono junk aka kim rapatti joins forces with berlin based freestyle man aka klas sasse lindblad, known for his productions on classic labels like sähkö and moodmusic. pata ep starts with the hard hitting techno title �not a love story�, haunting vocals, simple synthline, slicing percussion and deep bassdrum, all u need to make an effect, this must be heard in a big sound system. following with �need your lovin� the ep takes a more electro approach, mesmerising love story with jupiter-8 bassline and 808 beats accompanied with vocals on this track too by mr rapatti. the ep ends with �stella polaris�, a production which started as a jam in 2007 in berlin at sasse�s blackhead studios and was finished 10 years later in 2017 in the same location. reminiscing of early 90s electronica time when everything was pure and gold and when these fellows also were starting their careers. �stella polaris� leaves no one cold with emotional themes of analog synthesis and depth of the bass.

mörk white finally launches to provide a small sub-outlet for more off-mörk sounds. exploring rougher edges and surfaces as well as some more minimalistic and stripped back areas and a bit of sly electro.
no moon opens up the series with 2x12�s of vintage warmth & fire. rollocking techno production and alien vs predator atmospheres & wails on space station kicks things off, rolling into the crunchy piano roller that is unusual light curve - undulating chords & bass washed over pretty much the entire package.

after previously exhibiting his remixing dexterity on two other occasions, myles sergé returns to �made of concrete� to showcase his production chops in a four track ep revealing three originals and one rework. firmly rooted in his hometown of grand rapids, a city along the legendary detroit-chicago axis, sergé stays true to the musical hallmarks that made history in the scene, sketching up a contemporary soundscape with haunting old school influences. the ep unfolds as a real treasure trove, with each track digging deeper into the realms of dubbed out electronica, while masterfully blurring the lines between house and techno.

our 2nd ep takes you for a jolly ride on a merry go round packed with talented artists. coming from all corners of the globe, they share a common goal: make decent house music with a beat inspired both by deep and uk house.

to the untrained ear a collaboration between mosaic boss steve o sullivan and minimal house maestro ricardo villalobos may not seem like the most obvious sound clash. however, dig a little deeper and you ll find that both these artists have a long history and shared love of stripped back aesthetics and dubbed out rhythms carving out respective sounds that have never strayed far from their roots. sullric is the result of a daylong session at the end of 2016 where the pair plugged in, switched on and set everything to cycle: recording several hours worth of material to tape with an edit of their favourite passage worked into two versions in post-production.

i discovered benoit b through his own label - banlieue records. he�s part of a new breed of young french producers who make music without any hang-ups and that are inspired by the entire history of house and techno and everything in-between. i liked the combination of club beats with a deep, super melodic approach. the 6 tracks featured here almost make up an entire album that reflects benoit�s skills and sense of production. everything is here -from ambient experiments to heavyweight club tracks and beyond. here, bear witness to the new sound of france (even though he lives in berlin!)

paul woolford has been seriously spreading his wings of late, becoming omni-present by landing his tracks with ease on labels like xl recordings, running back, houndstooth, hotflush and aus music. not wanting to be shackled by genres, paul comfortably serves up a wide variety of curveballs, from the technoid charge of his 4/4 persuasions to the exhilarating warped hardcore & jungle breaks of his much loved special request project. and so it�s with welcome arms that edible usher him to our release schedule, give him the comfy sofa and let him rip it up with two havoc-inducing cuts that are already a staple in label boss eats everything�s dj sets. title track �chaos� finds paul in a particularly warped mode, bleepy synth pulses oscillate wildly over a granite hard beat as a single sub-bass tone drives the brain-scrambling flurry of modular tones into overdrive. a hydrochloric synth riff settles the bed, but only until the next haul of chaotic blips come firing out of the speakers - highly effective, and possibly deranged warehouse tackle. a future classic. flip side, and woolford shows off some decidedly more soulful chops on �meditate . a vocal hook plays against a dubwise bass line and ascending 909 rides, as a seductive and transcendental string arpeggio creeps to the fore and demands a breakdown of its own, serving up a serious bucket load of emotion. not a dry eye in the house.

fuse bosses enzo siragusa and seb zito have been invited by the highly respected rawax to bring a taste of their beloved london rave culture roots to the labels first release of 2017. since their launch in 2011, rawax�s catalogue has beamed with nothing less than the finest, and enzo and seb are a welcomed addition to their already colourful and diverse roster. barac, boo williams, fred p, paul johnson, ricardo villalobos, ron trent and unbroken dub are just a small portion of an incredible list of artists that have released via the labels original monarch and many offshoots thus far. with �woonie trax� enzo and seb perfectly resurrect the sounds of early uk rave culture into the present by digging out the early gems of their record boxes as inspiration. �barring the kicks, i think almost everything came from sampling old garage, hardcore and jungle records from the 90 s. for those in the know, the clues are in the names of the tracks�. � enzo siragusa whilst �shades of riddim, �lil ley�, and �blue notes� all lend themselves to the early uk sound, each track has its own individual quirk making the ep a diverse representation of the days enzo and seb fell in love with rave.

once more scouring the annals of disco history for the hottest jams, best look beyond italy and snap up this much-vaunted slice of american funk from 1982. while second hand prices can get out of control, it s not hard to hear why this glittering prize from jagg would be so coveted - it s got everything. jazz-leaning slap bass, mean synthesizer chops and soaring vocals - -take time- is prime to set the party off, and no longer is it the preserve of wealthy collectors. originally a single-sided affair, best have done the right thing and filled the b-side up with an extended version to let that groove roll on even longer.

chances are if you have a body, a pair of ears and access to some kind of listening device, you�ve at least tapped a foot to �shine� from soul clap and nona hendryx. pure authenticity and vocal integrity is provided in bucket loads by nona (ex-labelle member and purveyor of funk for more than 40 years), while the production maintains soul clap�s sublime freshness. increasing your marimba intake by 200% with two additional versions, hot toddy gives exotic plushness with a diversified rhythm section and melodic bottom lines that lightly entwine, shimmering in the light of nonas voice. scott grooves brings the funk, with an upfront bassline and extra jb-style horns on his horns dub, while the deepah dub takes a housier approach while still keeping the horn stabs. scott finishes off with an echopella of nonas vocals recorded from the international space station. this remix package is everything you would want, and then some.

lagartijeando is the name of producer, musician and dj mati zundel. born, raised and currently living in a small town on the outskirts of buenos aires called dolores. from a very early age, he was musically curious- experimenting with percussion, charango, guitar, bass, voice, and beyond. strongly influenced by his travels through latin america, mati s signature psychedelic dance tracks latch onto everything from traditional folk sounds from the bolivian altiplano to the jungle beats of brazil. mati hypnotically fuses his traditional influences (with an emphasis on shaman chant and charango loops) with contemporary electronic beats, creating a sound that once left npr speechless.
